PRAYERFEST 2019 /prayerfest-2019/ /prayerfest-2019/#comments Mon, 07 Oct 2019 13:46:24 +0000 /?p=9871 PRAYERFEST is one of the major programmes of the 51¶ŻÂț College which aims at training and preparing the heart of Management, Staff and the entire student body during the first semester in each Academic year. It is a Prayer Festival where the entire University Community comes together and pray by committing the academic year and its activities into the hands of God. It is also a time where we pray to God for strength, power, protection, freshness and spiritual renewal.

The Chaplaincy Board in consultation with Management has chosen the theme “Transformation Through Encounter” (Genesis 32:28). The programme starts from Tuesday, 15th to Sunday, 20th October, 2019 at the James McKeown Auditorium at 6:30pm each night. The Guest Speaker for the PRAYERFEST 2019 is Apostle General Sam Korankye Ankrah of Royalhouse Chapel International.

The programme will officially be launched at a Joint College Assembly on Tuesday Morning, 15th October, 2019 at 11:00am by the Rector of the University College, Apostle Dr. Daniel Okyere Walker. There will also be praises and worship on Saturday Evening at 6:00pm and on Sunday Morning, 20th October, 2019 we will climax the programme with a thanksgiving service with the entire University Community at 8:00am prompt.

The theme for the Prayerfest 2019 is relevant because it seeks to transform and impact lives both spiritually and physically to be able to possess the PUC campus for Christ. We believe that through this programme we will have a supernatural encounter with the Lord and thereafter possess ourselves and possess others for Christ.

All students, staff and Management are entreated to participate in the Prayerfest 2019 for a greater transformation.

Be transformed and be an agent of transformation.

Hult Prize launched in PUC /hult-prize-competition-launched-at-puc/ /hult-prize-competition-launched-at-puc/#comments Fri, 04 Oct 2019 17:44:21 +0000 /?p=9866 The Hult Prize Competition has been launched in 51¶ŻÂț College to offer students the opportunity to deliver social change in their respective communities.

The Hult Prize was established by Bertil Hult, and is an annual, year-long competition that crowd-sources ideas from MBA and college students after challenging them to solve a pressing social issue around topics such as food security, water access, energy and education. The Hult family – founders of EF Education First – donates USD 1million in seed capital to help the winning team launch a social enterprise. The prize is a partnership between Hult International Business School and the United Nations Foundation.

51¶ŻÂț College got involved through the efforts of Joseph Kofi Yeboah of the Nursing Department. The benefit for PUC, if students do excel in the Competition, is that the school gets international exposure as the students will be competing in the name of the University College.

The Rector of PUC, in his opening remarks, lauded the efforts of the organizers for choosing the campus of PUC for the event. This will provide a platform for students to showcase their prowess and talents and create businesses alongside their academic studies.

This year’s theme was “Can we build bold businesses that have a positive impact on our planet with every sale completed, a dollar earned, and decisions made?”. Participants are challenged to come up with business ideas targeted at solving societal challenges.

How can students participate?

Form a group between three to five and come up with a plan to solve this year’s theme question. Every year there is a theme question read by the Former President of the United States of America, Bill Clinton.

(Please, contact Mr. Chris Appiah-Badu, Communication Studies, on 0209879430, for more details).

PUC has welcomed Freshmen/women into the 2019/2020 Academic year with a week-long orientation programme to usher them into a new phase of their academic life. The one-week orientation was packed-up with different exciting sessions.

The Freshers took part in information sessions and workshops designed to connect them to the PUC campus community and put them on track towards a successful journey through college. In this light, some staff and continuing students volunteered to join in the activity of assisting freshers in diverse ways, such as adjusting to campus life, Academic regulations, finance and security, library services and networking.

As one of the leading Christian universities in Ghana, PUC aims to train the totality of the individual – Body, Soul and Spirit – through the provision of value-based education. Consequently, the University College actively works to grow and maintain a national and international reputation for excellence in teaching and research.

In his opening remarks, Aps. From the left Rev Nelson Adu (school Chaplain), middle Dr Apostle Daniel Walker (Rector) and Apostle Christian Tsekpoe (one of the speakers)

During the sermons, students were encouraged to throw away bad conduct like bribery and corruption and take up good traits like honesty and integrity.

Speaking at the program, Apostle Christian Tsekpoe dared the students to be hungry for transformation in the nation and to seek God in our professional lives.

“If we invite God into every sector of the nation, Ghana will still be the way it is. It takes just one person to change and that will cause a change in the organisation, society and nation at large”, he stated.

Amidst all the emphatic proclamations, students and staff jubilantly danced to songs by the mass choir and other solo and group ministrations.

The atmosphere was charged as the students prayed for the nation on the last but one day and ended it by singing the National Anthems of Ghana and Nigeria.

On the last day, which was a Saturday, students danced for hours to praise songs.
