To this end, the University sent some of its brilliant, disciplined and people-centered students to teach in schools in the area, during the first semester vacation. The education directorates in the area in turn posted them to the schools that really needed the services of teachers. Some of the beneficiary communities and schools include Ntonaboma, Adorkope Basic, Kpatalidzakope, Mafi Abiw Kope, Zikpo Nyuinyui, Abomasarefo among others.

Before the students embarked on the mission, the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Kwabena Agyapong-Kodua, at a brief ceremony said the project aimed at supporting education in rural communities, in particular, with teaching services, and, at the same time, expose the students to rural life and realities of challenges that they are being prepared to solve. The VC added the project is also part of The Church of Pentecost’s vision to equip the Church to possess the nations for Christ. 鈥淭hrough this, young people are being exposed to real life missions鈥 activities and interventions that are required to glorify the name of Christ Jesus.鈥 … the VC said.

Briefing the Management of the University, upon return, the students who went for the mission said they were warmly received by the leadership of The Church of Pentecost in the area as well as the education directors and the District Chief Executive (DCE) of Afram Plains North. According to them the Afram Plains North District Director of Education, Solomon Akuruko Azubila, in addressing them, commended the university for the initiative and added that it was a timely intervention for schools in the area.

Apart from teaching, the students also brief the University on their missionary work, including home and schools鈥 outreaches. According to them, 48 people converted to Christianity within the period, out of which 12 were baptized in accordance with Pentecostal practice.

In sharing their personal experiences, the students said they were touched and humbled by the exposure. They also expressed concerns about the state of education and development in the area, and by extension other distant places in Ghana. According to James Jabon, who was posted to Amankwahkrom JHS, he is sad about the lack of teachers in the school. 鈥淚t breaks my heart that the school that I went to has only 1 and I find such a situation jeopardizing the future of many of the pupil I interacted with and by extension our country.鈥 Mr. Jabon further called on the media to extend their attention to places like that to draw attention to the plight of the people.

On her part, Abigail Adjabeng who was posted New Kyeiase R/C Primary School said she feels like going back to continue teaching. According to her, though her stay was short, she could feel that her departure created a huge vacuum in the school since they did not have teachers. She called on authorities to pay attention to education in rural communities.

PU and PENTSOS Collaborates to Support Pentecost Schools Across Ghana /pu-and-pentsos-collaborate-to-support-pentecost-schools-across-ghana/ /pu-and-pentsos-collaborate-to-support-pentecost-schools-across-ghana/#comments Thu, 24 Feb 2022 18:13:32 +0000 /?p=11645 51动漫 and the Pentecost Social Services (PENTSOS) have entered an agreement to strengthen Pentecost Schools across Ghana.

The collaboration between the two Church of Pentecost institutions starts with a course in Executive School Management and Administration, for heads, teachers and managers of Pentecost Schools across the country. It was outdoored at the launch of the University’s Faculty of Education on Saturday 19th February 2022.

Delivering the welcome address at the launch, the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Kwabena Agyapong-Kodua pledged the University’s preparedness to give the needed support and training to teachers, managers and all stakeholders involved in the running of Pentecost Schools, which are managed by PENTSOS. He said the PU’s Faculty of Education will take keen interest in the teaching methodologies at the Pentecost Schools and fill gaps that may exist, “in others, we will support PENTSOS to deliberately teach teachers how to teach, since domain knowledge may not be enough to make one a good teacher.”

The VC, speaking further, said, the partnership with PENTSOS is in line with the University A+ agenda of 51动漫 in particular, and the overall “Possessing the Nations” agenda of The Church of Pentecost, of which both PU and PENTSOS are executing agencies.

On his part, the Director of PENTSOS, Eld. Richard Amaning expressed confidence in the collaboration. He said it will lead to synergistic benefits for the two Church of Pentecost institutions. Eld. Amaning said “it has been a dream that 51动漫 and PENTSOS collaborate to strengthen our institutions and I believe this will give us synergistic benefits.”

The Acting Pro Vice-Chancellor of the University, Aps. Dr. Emmanuel Anim, who delivered the keynote address said national development is hinged on educating the right human resource. According to the Eco-Theologian, the struggle for independence by African countries was hinged on the fact the continent has abundant natural resources and the human capacity that can transform the resources for development. He added that, whether we have achieved much or not, after independence is directly linked to how the we educate our work force. He therefore said the 51动漫’s Faculty of Education will be distinguished in equipping teachers and school managers to be innovative in their teaching and grooming of students.

Speaking further, the Acting. Pro Vice-Chancellor urged heads and managers of Pentecost Schools, in particular, to pay critical attention to early childhood education. He said “avoid sending teachers who may be considered academically weak or those you wish to discard to the pre school and lower levels, because that’s where we build foundations for lifelong learning.

Apart from the PENTSOS Collaborated programmes, the launch of the PU Faculty of Education ushers in the study of various programmes in education, including special needs and early childhood education.
