In a brief ceremony today, Mrs. Vera A. Ohui, a Level 400 weekend student handed over the items on behalf of the students to Management.

In his remark, the SRC President, Mr. Danser said the donation was a form of contribution from the student body in support of the on-going transformation on campus. He said the objective was to help brighten certain areas around the University to enhance security and ambiance. He added that “it was also an effort to demonstrate a critical tenet of the University A+ vision; for PU students to acquire and cultivate intuitive problem-solving mentalities.

Commenting further, Mr. Danser said, the SRC sees itself as an active partner and will contribute its part to transforming the University. He said, “we have seen massive transformation on-going on campus, such as multipurpose structures being built, but there are still some needs; but, instead of complaining and petitioning Management, we decided to seek support from the corporate world to meet those needs”. “By the grace of God, we got it.”… he concluded.

The Dean of Students Affairs, Rev. Jonathan Kofie who received the items on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor thanked the students for the gesture. He said, “on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Agyapong-Kodua, I must say, we are moved by this gesture and wish to thank you.” He added that “Management is also impressed that you caught the vision of the University A+ agenda to be solution-oriented students.”

On his part, the Estate Development Manager of the University, Mr. Charles Tetteh said the lights have come at a crucial time that the University is expanding; and they will be put to good use.

The SRC was supported by the Fernando Group of Companies.

Anyaa- Sowutuom MP Donates to PUC /anyaa-sowutuom-mp-donates-to-puc/ /anyaa-sowutuom-mp-donates-to-puc/#comments Tue, 07 May 2019 10:15:06 +0000 http://pentvars.edu.gh/?p=9697 Member of Parliament for the Anyaa-Sowutuom Constituency and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Honourable Shirley Ayorkor Botwe has donated 20 LED streetlight bulbs to be installed in and around the 51 College.

The Student Representative Council (SRC) of the school got the donation in line with an earlier request.

She was represented by the Party Chairman for the Constituency, Mr Albert Sam, who stated that the lights were intended to protect the student populace and bring some safety to the members of the community.

The Vice Rector, Prof. K. B. Omane Antwi was very pleased with the gesture and expressed profound gratitude to the Member of Parliament but reiterated that there were still two key initiatives that the Member of Parliament needed to embark on.

He stated that there is a great need for proper road networks that lead to the school as the deplorable state made it very difficult to ply especially during the raining season.

“Apart from the students, the state of the roads makes it very difficult for us to convince foreigners to come all the way here to see the school”, he said.

The party officials said that the earlier mentioned would be dealt with immediate effect as they assured him.

The SRC was particularly impressed with the kind gesture, as it will bring comfort to the nightlife of the students.

The president of the SRC made it known that the student body still looked forward to more from the Member of Parliament and her team.
