In his welcome address, the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Aps. Prof. Kwabena Agyapong-Kodua said 鈥渢he presentation at this lecture will revive the Pentecostal fire in us to become testimonies of authentic Christian lifestyle.鈥� This he said is the 鈥渂est megaphone for our faith.鈥�

The Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Aps. Eric Nyamekye who opened the conference said it is not just an academic activity but also in pursuit of the 鈥淕reat Commission.鈥� He added that it is a crucial and necessary 鈥渄ialogue between academic and ecclesiological practitioners.鈥� Aps. Nyamekye also eulogized Rev. James McKeown and said a lecture in his distant predecessor鈥檚 honour will be academically enriching and spiritually empowering.

Delivering the keynote address for the first day, Aps. Prof. Opoku Onyinah, the immediate past Chairman of The Church of Pentecost described Rev. McKeown as balanced, flexible, comprehensive and a man of reading. He said, many may have noted that McKeown did not attain high level of education but he was a man of reading.鈥� He said Rev. Mckeown made profound references and quoted some of the most renowned authors and books at the time. On education, Aps. Prof. Onyinah said Rev. Mckeown encouraged his pastors to read and enroll in formal education, and did not hesitate to open a school in Kumasi when it became necessary.

On his part, Aps. Dr. Lord Elorm Donkor, the Director of Birmingham Christian Centre in the UK who led the relections after the keynote speech described the lecture as 鈥渓iberating and empowering.鈥� Aps. Dr. Donkor said many things in The Church of Pentecost are attributed to Mckeown but the lecture as provided more insight for a better understanding. He said 鈥減eople in my generation have come to meet many things in our church attributed to Rev. Mckeown. But this lecture has made us known that a leader鈥檚 beliefs and practices may not be practiced exactly as they are in some of his places of influence.鈥�

Rev. James Mckeown was the founder of The Church of Pentecost. He is widely regarded as a founding father of Pentecostalism in Ghana and to some extent, Africa. He founded the the Bible College which went through phases to become 51动漫. Rev. Mckeown lived between 1900 and 1989. This lecture is organized to honor his memories.

He was inducted during the Society’s 2020 Annual General Meeting today, 1st October, at the Evangel Assembly of God Church at Adabraka, Accra.

Aps. Prof. Opoku Onyinah takes over from Rev. Dr Joyce Aryee, with Madam Matilda Amissah-Arthur and Mrs Florence Hutchful as his vice presidents.

According to the General Secretary of the Society Rev. Dr Enock Aryee-Atta, Prof. Onyinah was “elected by Council of the Society through physical and virtual elections.

In his remarks, Prof. Opoku Onyinah thanked members of the society and called for their continued support for its activities. “Beloved, it is indeed humbling to serve you as president and I pray that you continue to support the Society so that it will be a beacon of God’s glory to all people”.

Prior to the induction, The Church of Pentecost in a letter signed by Aps. David Tekpe on behalf of Chairman Eric Nyamekye and Executive Council of The Church of Pentecost congratulated the Church’s past Chairman on his new position.

On his part, the Vice-Chancellor of 51动漫 Apostle Dr Daniel Walker congratulated his predecessor on assuming the new position. “We as a University and Church are proud to associate with Prof Onyinah and the new mandate God has bestowed on him. We wish him the best”.

Aps. Prof. Opoku Onyinah is the immediate past Chairman of the Church from 2008 to 2018.

He served as a full-time minister of the Church for 42 years during which he held many high profile positions. Notable among them are International Missions Director, Rector of 51动漫 College between 2003 and 2008, when he became Chairman of the Church.

Currently, he is a lecturer in the School of Theology, Mission and Leadership of 51动漫.

The memo stated 鈥渙n behalf of Management of the 51动漫 (PU), we write to inform all staff that our Retreat for the year 2020 is scheduled to begin from Tuesday 22^nd to Wednesday 23^rd September 2020.

Referencing Daniel 6:3-10, the retreat is themed Reflecting God鈥檚 Glory in Our Work-Life鈥� and will take place in the Phase 2 Auditorium on campus.

Commenting on the retreat as a robust HR tool, the Human Resource Manager of the University Mr Nicholas Sarpong- Kumakuma said the retreat has spiritual, physical and mental dimensions for productivity and welfare of staff. He explained that 鈥榯he prayers fortify them spiritually while the exhortations that follow enhance their work ethics and morale, thereby boosting their efficiency.

The Management, Faculty and Staff Prayer and Fasting Retreat is an annual activity on the corporate calendar of 51动漫. It takes place at the beginning of every academic year. The objective is to thank God and ask His blessings for the university. It also offers an opportunity for staff to discuss opportunities and challenges the university can leverage to enhance its brand.

This year鈥檚 retreat is the first after the University received Presidential Charter. It will be attended by the Chancellor of the University and Chairman of The Church of Pentecost Aps. Eric Nyamekye. Other eminent personality who will speak include the Vice-Chancellor Aps. Dr. Daniel Walker, Aps. Prof Opoku Onyinah (Former Rector and Chancellor), Rev. Prof. Ivy Drafor-Amenah (Director of Research, Innovation and Consultancy Center) and Aps. Dr. Samuel Ofori (Director of Ministerial Formation, STML).

The mission of the Pastors, from across the globe (Liberia, Malawi, El Salvador, Sri Lanka, Dominican Republic), was to familiarize themselves with the Church鈥檚 University.

Upon arrival, they were received by the Rector, Apostle Dr. Daniel Walker and the Registrar, Mr. Foster Amoani after which they were taken on a campus tour to explore and familiarize themselves with the campus鈥� facilities and ecosystem.

During the brief meeting with the Pastors, Apostle Dr. Daniel Walker said that the vision of PUC is to empower students to serve their own generation and posterity with integrity and the fear of God. He continued that the University runs degree, certificate and professional programmes with a growing number of international students from over 10 African countries. He encouraged the Pastors to positively project PUC to the outside world to increase International Students鈥� enrollment.

He further appreciated the enormous and unceasing support from The Church of Pentecost.

The Pastors expressed amazement of PUC’s atmosphere for cross-cultural studies, serene environment and state-of-the-art facilities and infrastructure. They pledged to support the University and publicize the University to their members on their return.

The Executive Council is responsible for the administration of The Church and also implements policies and decisions of the General Council, the聽highest policy-making body of the Church.

The Fifteen (15)鈥搈ember Executive Council is made up of the Chairman, General Secretary, International Missions Director, one (1) Apostle/Prophet/National Head elected from Africa who is not a Ghanaian by descent; one (1) Apostle/Prophet/National Head elected from the Nations outside Africa and ten (10) others elected from among the Apostles and Prophets in Ghana.
